Pedro Infante Cruz (Spanish pronunciation: [?pe?o in?fante]; 18 November 1917 – 15 April 1957) was a Mexican actor and singer best known as Pedro Infante. He is regarded as one of the finest performers of the Golden Age of Mexican film, and he, together with Jorge Negrete and Javier Sols, are known as the “Tres Gallos Mexicanos” throughout Latin America (the Three Mexican Roosters). Infante was reared in Guamchil after being born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. He perished in an aircraft accident at Mérida, Yucatán, on April 15, 1957, while on way to Mexico City. His cinematic career started in 1939, with him starring in more than 60 films, and he recorded over 350 songs beginning in 1943. He won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 7th Berlin International Film Festival for his role in the film Tizoc.
