Michael McKee is a veteran radio and television journalist who has been reporting on New York City politics and government for more than three decades. He is currently a reporter for WNYC, New York City's public radio station. McKee was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1977. He began his career in radio at WICC in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and then moved to New York City in 1979 to work at WNEW-FM. He joined WNYC in 1982 and has been there ever since. McKee has won numerous awards for his reporting, including the New York Press Club's Front Page Award for Radio Reporting, the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association's Best Radio Feature Award, and the New York State Broadcasters Association's Best Radio Feature Award. He has also been honored by the New York City Council and the New York State Legislature. McKee is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children. He is an avid runner and has completed several marathons.

From 2013 to 2016, he was co-host of Bloomberg Surveillance (with Tom Keene), conducting interviews and providing analysis of current financial and political news and economic trends. The broadcast is heard in New York City on WBBR 1130, Boston WXKS 1200, San Francisco KNEW 960, Washington WDCH-FM 99.1 and across North America on Sirius XM Radio satellite channel 119. Since 2016, McKee has been Bloomberg Television and Radio's International Economics & Policy correspondent, reporting on economics; trade; central banks and finance ministries, and political developments around the world.
