Marty also had an oil and gas exploration company, Terra Energy Ltd which he established in 1982 although he sold it in 1995, after 13 years of running the company, for $58 million dollars to CMS Energy.
He is also the former chairman of Michigan Oil and Gas Association.

The show premiered on 5th January 2014 and documents history of the island, the discoveries made when searching the island and attempts to solve the mystery therein.
