Harold Rowe Holbrook Jr. is an American actor, television director, and writer. He first received critical acclaim in 1954 for a solo program he developed, Mark Twain Tonight! while studying at Denison College, as Mark Twain. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1966 for his role as Twain. He will continue to hold his contracting role for more than 60 years, not retiring until 2017 due to poor health. During his career, he also won five Primetime Emmy Awards for his television work and was nominated for an Oscar for his film work. Holbrook made his film debut in Sidney Lumet's The Group. He later gained international fame for his role as Deep Throat in the 1976 film All the President's Men. He played Abraham Lincoln in the 1976 Lincoln miniseries and the 1985 North and South miniseries. such as Julia, The Fog, Creepshow, Wall Street, The Firm, Hercules and Men of Honor.
