Bob Rathbun is an American television broadcaster and the current play-by-play announcer for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on November 25, 1954 in the United States. Rathbun began his broadcasting career in 1979 as a sports anchor and reporter for WJRT-TV in Flint, Michigan. He then moved to WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982, where he served as a sports anchor and reporter for the next 15 years. In 1997, Rathbun joined the Atlanta Hawks as the team's play-by-play announcer. He has been the team's announcer ever since, and is currently in his 24th season with the team. Rathbun has also served as a play-by-play announcer for the NBA on TNT, and has called college basketball games for ESPN, Fox Sports South, and the SEC Network. Rathbun is married to his wife, Lisa, and they have two children. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

After being named Virginia Sportscaster of the Year six separate times, he was awarded the same honor in Georgia in 1998. In 2008, he was named to the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Rathbun served as the play-by-play announcer on Atlanta Braves baseball games on Fox Sports Net (formerly SportsSouth) from 1997 to 2006.
From 1992 to 1994, Rathbun worked as a radio broadcaster for the Detroit Tigers. Rathbun and Rick Rizzs replaced legendary Tigers voice Ernie Harwell and his partner Paul Carey. Rathbun was very unpopular with Detroit fans. At the end of the 1994 season, Rizzs and Rathbun were fired.
Rathbun is a 1976 graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina and was inducted in the schools Sports Hall of Fame in 2006, and a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1988.
